Anastasiya Konstantine is a photographer based in Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa, known for her captivating fashion editorials created in a surrealist style. As an immigrant born in Kyiv, Ukraine, before settling down in New Zealand with her family as a child, Anastasiya’s work is deeply rooted in her cultural background as a child of the diaspora, bringing a unique perspective to her work by infusing her photography with rich symbolism and storytelling.
With her work deeply rooted in culture, community, and connection, Anastasiya still primarily uses the film camera passed down from her late father, which he used to take photos of her as a baby. This adds an extra layer of sentimentality and nostalgia to the already intimate essence of her photography.
Anastasiya is passionate about creative art direction and collaboration within her community, working with brands and publications such as Dominque Healy, Remix Magazine and Specsavers. With a multidisciplinary background across various creative outlets, Anastasiya has a highly experienced background working in the fashion industry for over a decade, starting in the local manufacturing industry and working with New Zealand’s most prominent top brands. After naturally pivoting from the fashion world into photography, Anastasiya can combine her multidimensional outlets into one as a photographer, putting her heart into every image she captures.
